Rebuilding Hope After The Flood - A Story Of Resilience & Generosity

In February 2023, a devastating flood at the Vaal Dam left many families with nothing. Their home and belongings were destroyed, and their future seemed uncertain. But out of this hardship came a story of hope, resilience, and community—a story that Jan’s Heart NPC is honored to be part of as we gave hope to one of the families.

With open hearts and helping hands, we stepped in to rebuild this family’s home from the ground up, making it stronger and safer to prevent future flooding. It was a collaborative effort, and we are deeply grateful to all who contributed.

A special thanks to Hendrik Sevenster and his hardworking team, who stripped the house down, making way for Duncan Campbell and his team of professional tilers, painters, and builders to restore the home to its former glory. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Tanya Groenveld for providing the essential building materials and to Freddie and Theresa Kruger for their donation and paint supplies.

The family, represented by Leon Gouws, shared a powerful message that touched all of us: “We never understood why the flood took all our things, destroyed our home, but now it is clear, God gave us more than what we had.” This testament to faith and gratitude reminds us all of the incredible strength of the human spirit.

Together, we brought this home back to life, but more importantly, we helped restore hope. Thank you to every Generous Heart who made this possible.
