The Beetroot Project - Nourishing Communities With The Power of Beets

 

You may wonder why Jan’s Heart NPC has chosen to distribute beetroot as part of our latest initiative for 2024. The answer lies in the incredible health benefits that beetroot offers. Packed with nutrition, beets contain powerful antioxidants like betalains, which help fight cell damage and inflammation, potentially offering protection against cancer and heart disease. They also promote heart health, help lower blood pressure, and increase stamina during exercise.

 

 

For the 24 children’s homes, 1 retirement village, 1 school, and 2 churches we support, the fiber and folate in beets are essential for healthy digestion and a child’s early development. Beets also contain carotenoids, phenols, and other plant nutrients that act as antioxidants, supporting overall cellular health.

 

With this in mind, we launched the Beetroot Project for the new year, distributing 1,120 bottles of 525g beetroot to these communities to boost their nutrition. This project allows us to give back in a meaningful way, ensuring the children, seniors, and families we serve receive the health benefits of this nutritious vegetable.

 

A special thank you goes to an anonymous donor who generously provided the beetroot at minimal cost, allowing us to make this project a reality and support so many in need.

 

We are excited to see the impact this project will have and look forward to continuing our mission of nourishing both bodies and hearts in 2024.
